Oliver’s been busy having a new paint job – here are some pics of the process in action! First stage stripping everything back…
On to the river Severn
We had to navigate a pair of staircase locks – the pound between them was pretty small and they were at an awkward angle making the turn really tricky. Luckily nobody was watching as I made a hash of it on the first attempt, but we soon sorted it out and were on our way on the Severn…
Before long we hit our first lock on the Severn. We were well impressed as the gates were open before we arrived – turns out the lock-keeper has a webcam so he could see us coming!
As well as the steel cables, we also liked how calmly the locks filled compared to the Thames – you could literally hold the boat in with finger and thumb. All in all the locks were a dream.

Water Tank cleanout
This weekend the big clearout inside continued; we found troubles with the gas oven not staying lit, the houdini hatches got their rubber seals put back in place and sealant applied around the frames, the dishwasher(!) was taken out and last but not least the water tank got a big clean out and some rust treatment with Vactan

Jobs done:
- Dishwasher and washing machine removed
- Utility cupboard cleaned and tidied
- Houdini hatches’ seals pushed back in
- Houdini hatches’ frames sealed (it’s still leaking!!)
- Stern gland greaser refilled
- Water tank cleaned and painted with vactan
- Kitchen sink drain leak repaired
